Costume Volunteer Information

Hear ye! Hear ye! Come one and all to visit the costume shop for this year’s Boar’s Head Festival. While you are there, pick up a needle, maybe a glue gun, or a pair of scissors. Help us create the wonderful clothing and fashions of the 13th, 14th, and 15th centuries.

We need volunteers to help us create hats and slippers, tunics and dresses, cowls and masks, jewelry and chain mail, choir robes and angels, and much more. We can use all sorts of talents. Yes we need people who can sew. But, you don’t necessarily have to know the difference between a gusset and a grommet, an armcye and a placket, or a serger and a steamer. We can even help you discover a hidden talent!?!

If you are crafty and like working with your hands, have we got a glue gun for you. Do you knit? We are going to be making knitted chain mail; very simple patterns and big needles. Or Quilting? Maybe you like making jewelry. We’ve got lots of old broken jewelry to remake into lovely medieval creations.

Maybe you just want to help us get things set up. There is pressing and steaming to do, jewelry to sort, simple mending, and even some shopping. All you have to do is fill out the form on the back of this sheet and return it to Wendy Moore; 17383 Whisler, Brownstown, Mi 48173. Or call at the number listed on the form.
